We annually award financial scholarships to high school seniors who have been accepted to a college or trade school, existing college students, and teachers through our Jack C. Mathews College Scholarship Competition. For 40 years, Jack worked for the City of Los Angeles and also volunteered 34 years on the LAFCU Board of Directors. After retiring from the Board in 2011, the LAFCU Scholarship was re-named in his honor. Jack passed away in 2013.
StudentsYou are eligible to apply if you are a high school senior or college student with a minimum 2.5 GPA who has verification of attending a college, university or trade school in the Fall. Scholarship winners are selected based on their academic transcript, extracurricular activities, community service, and essay.

TeachersYou are eligible to apply if you are a teacher in good standing at a high school, college, or trade school. Scholarship winners are selected based on your community service or involvement and an essay. It would help if you currently teach some type of financial literacy to students.

The application deadline is April 30 and winners will be notified by May 17. You must be a LAFCU member to participate.
