The winners of the 2025 LAFCU Jack C. Mathews College Scholarship competition were honored in May with a special presentation at the LAFCU corporate office. Four winners (from 41 qualified entries) were each awarded with $2,500 checks and all will attend college in the fall of 2025.
Students were evaluated on their academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities, community service, and a 60-second video that each created suggesting a revised version of LAFCU’s slogan, “Financing Your Future” that included an explanation for their choice.
The scholarship is named in honor of the late Jack C. Mathews, who worked for the City of Los Angeles for 40 years and served 34 years as a volunteer on the LAFCU board. Since 2006, LAFCU has awarded over $140,000 in scholarships to help 106 deserving students and/or teachers. Congratulations to the winners!
