Celebrate Int'l C.U. Day
(Continued)
“Cooperation for a Prosperous World” is the theme in 2025 for International Credit Union Day, celebrated internationally this year on October 16.
This theme:
• Means when people and organizations, like credit unions, work together, they can achieve greater financial well-being and prosperity for everyone.
• Links to the United Nations' “International Year of Cooperatives,” to highlight the global impact of cooperative finance in creating a stronger and more inclusive financial future.
• Emphasizes the success of the credit union model, which is member-owned and not-for-profit, putting the needs of its members and communities first.
• Highlights that cooperation is essential for overcoming challenges and building a stronger community.
• Points to the vast network of 74,000 credit unions working together across the world to serve over 411 million members in 104 countries.
As a member of Los Angeles Federal Credit Union (LAFCU), you benefit from the many reasons why we are the best place to save and borrow, such as:
• You are a member-owner of LAFCU, vs just a customer at other financial institutions.
• Any income we earn is used to pay expenses and anything left over benefits members in the form of lower loan rates, higher savings rates and many free or low-cost services.
• We are not for profit vs other financial institutions that are for-profit and must provide a return for their stockholders.
• We offer better service and have a community focus.
• Since the first credit unions were founded in Europe in the 1850’s, they have had a cooperative “People Helping People” philosophy, which LAFCU has followed since our founding in 1936.
Encourage your family, friends and co-workers to join us so they too can reap a lifetime of benefits you enjoy as a LAFCU member. Tell them their journey toward financial well-being can start at www.LAFCU.org, by calling us at (877) 695-2328, or by visiting a branch.
