Los Angeles Federal Credit Union (LAFCU) membership is open to active and retired employees, and active volunteers of Los Angeles city, and employees of approved companies, Select Employee Groups, and Associations, members of the Los Angeles Charitable Association, Inc., and their immediate family members, and anyone residing in the employee's/volunteer's household. You must be a member of LAFCU to obtain credit or use LAFCU services. Certain discounts are available on selected products and services based on your V.I.P. Account level. Insurance for All Accounts
All LAFCU accounts are federally insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a U.S.Government Agency. IRAs are also separately insured up to an additional $250,000. Qualifying joint accounts are insured separately from accounts individually owned by any of the co-owners.
Member Conduct Policy
The purpose of the LAFCU "Member Conduct Policy" is to protect LAFCU and
its employees and members from abusive conduct, which includes verbal, physical or sexual abuse.
Based on the severity of the abuse, management shall either write the member to inform them that the abusive behavior must stop immediately (such as with physical threat/abuse or sexual abuse), or take action to immediately restrict services, as follows:
- Denial of all services other than the right to maintain a share account and the right to vote at annual and special meetings
- Denial of access to credit union premises
- Report as appropriate to law enforcement
- Take any other action deemed necessary under the circumstances that are not expressly precluded by the Federal Credit Union Act, NCUA Rules and Regulations, or LAFCU´s Bylaws.
Services will be denied based upon factors prohibited by law, which include, but is not limited to, race, sex, age, national origin, religion or sexual orientation. The LAFCU Supervisory Committee and Board will be informed monthly regarding any members who have had limitations imposed upon them.
