Los Angeles Charitable Association, Inc.

The purpose of the Los Angeles Charitable Association, Incorporated (LACA) is to support the philanthropic activities of non-profit charitable organizations within the greater Los Angeles, California area.

You qualify to join LACA if you:

  • Live in the greater Los Angeles area (including most cities in Southern California), and are concerned with the philanthropic needs of this area and want to assist LACA in fulfilling its purpose
  • Contribute in your name, or permit others to contribute on your behalf, the membership dues of a least $1.00 (one dollar)
  • Sign the membership application mail, fax or bring the signed application to a LAFCU location

The benefits of joining LACA are:

  • You can participate in activities that help raise money for deserving charities, as selected by LACA's Board of Directors
  • You can vote in annual LACA Board elections
  • You have the ability to join Los Angeles Federal Credit Union (LAFCU), if you are not eligible to join under LAFCU's other methods (such as: an active, retired, or volunteer Los Angeles City employee, or live in the same household as such an employee)

Monetary donations to LACA are accepted:

  • At any LAFCU branch
  • By mailing the funds to LAFCU (make checks payable to "LACA")
  • If you are a LAFCU member, by calling LAFCU and having the funds transferred from an eligible LAFCU account to LACA

It's easy to join the Los Angeles Charitable Association, Incorporated:

  • Click for a brochure containing the LACA membership application and donor card.
  • Fill out the membership application as follows:
    1. Provide your name, address, home phone and email address
    2. Under "Membership", check one box
    3. Under "Annual Dues", check one box (your decision to renew your LACA membership will not affect your LAFCU membership)
    4. Sign and date the bottom
    5. Fax or bring the application to LAFCU. You can also mail it by folding so the REPLY panel is one side and the "Thank You" panel is on the other side, seal with tape then mail (no additional postage is needed).

The membership dues are set by LACA's Board of Directors, and the amount is the minimal contribution to qualify for membership. Members are encouraged to contribute in excess of the dues amount so that funds will be available for the charitable purposes of LACA.

LACA has been approved by the Internal Revenue Service and California's Franchise Tax Board as a non-profit, tax-exempt "501(c)3" charity. LACA members are encouraged to participate in the activities and governance of LACA.

LACA's fundraising activities will be noted in newsletters, special mailings or from www.lafcu.org. Potential charities could include:

Dues:

  • If you decide to join LAFCU at the same time as joining LACA, then for your first year's LACA dues, $1 will be automatically transferred from your $5 LAFCU membership fee (if you are not yet a LAFCU member and do not qualify for membership under LAFCU's policy for Los Angeles City employees, retirees, volunteers or their immediate family members)
  • If you are already a LAFCU member and want to join LACA, then for your first year's LACA dues, $1 will be transferred from your LAFCU Primary Share Savings account
  • If you decide not to join LAFCU after joining LACA, then a check of at least $1.00 for your first year's LACA dues must accompany your LACA membership application

To just make a donation to LACA, regardless if you are a member of LACA or LAFCU, either 1) visit a branch, 2) call us and request a transfer to the LACA Charity account, or 3) Request a transfer by clicking to reach the secure "e-Mail & Info Request" page, fill in the top section & "Charity Donation" section, then click the "Submit" button on the bottom of the page.
